Outside the Lines Art Studio Summer Art Camps offer kids a unique opportunity to indulge, explore, and expand their love of art and science by participating in intensive, hands-on workshops with weekly themes that dive into STEAM topics. I provide process-focused art experiences which means the projects are open-ended (not restrained by defined restrictions instead it is adaptable to change and allows for spontaneity). This allows for critical thinking, exploration of techniques, tools, and materials.

Each camp is geared for 5-12 year olds. In this mixed age setting we inspire and guide each other to greatness.

Below is 2016 schedule to give you an idea what the summers look like. 2017 schedule will be posted in the spring. 

June

Sampler Week - June 21 - 23 - This week is about dipping your child’s toes in and seeing how they want to spend their summer immersed in ART!  Tuesday - Printmaking, Wednesday - Tinker Lab / Assemblage Art, and Thursday - Kinetic Art and Movement. 10 am - 11:45 am - $25 per day -- 1 spot left in Tuesday and Thursday --

Week 1 - June 27 - 30 - Printmaking - Campers will explore a variety of materials and techniques to create prints on fabrics, papers, and other surfaces using monoprinting, relief, and lithography (kid friendly) techniques. 10 am - noon - $120

July

Week 2 - July 5 - 7 - Storytelling (3 days) - Campers will explore an array of methods to create and tell their tales using a variety of story prompts we find and ones we create. 10 am - 11:45 pm - $80

Week 3 - July 11-14 - Kinetic Art and Movement - We will create expressive works using our energy and whole body to create large and small drawings in charcoal and paint. We will also create kinetic art (think Alexander Calder) and other sculpture forms to express movement. We will also create our own simple machines to create movement, i.e. pendulums. Dress in clothes that can be turned into art clothes, we will be covered in fun! 9:45 am - 11:45 am - $120

Week 4 - July 18-21 - Sculpting with Clay - Campers will explore real clay (purchased from a pottery store), using this textural medium to build pots, bowls, wacky creatures and more. We will end each day by experimenting with other sculpting materials. A follow up session will be available to paint your sculptures that needed extra drying time (likely the following Wednesday afternoon or by appointment). 9:45 am - 11:45 am - $120

Week 5 - July 25-28 - Tinker Lab / Assemblage Art / STEAM - Campers will take apart and discover the inner workings of small appliances and then use those parts with other loose parts to assemble fantastic sculptures (some that will move) and create fabulous imaginative inventions. Lots of science and engineering components are included as we explore simple machines, pendulums, and circuits. CANCELED *** Moved to Week 7 ***

August

Week 6 - August 1 - 4 -  Printmaking II - Round two for new and return campers! We will explore even more materials and techniques to create prints on fabrics, papers, and other surfaces using monoprinting, relief, and lithography (kid friendly) techniques. 9:45 am - 11:45 am - $120

Week 7 - August 8 - 11 - Tinker Lab / Assemblage Art / STEAM - Campers will take apart and discover the inner workings of small appliances and then use those parts with other loose parts to assemble fantastic sculptures (some that will move) and create fabulous imaginative inventions. Lots of science and engineering components are included as we explore simple machines, pendulums, and circuits. 9:45 am - 11:45 am - $120

 

Unless noted: Week 1 - Week 7 are Monday - Thursday from 9:45 am - 11:45 am - $120 (materials included) - Sibling discount is 20%

Bonus for Week 1-7 students: Every child will receive a hand printed Outside the Lines Art Studio T-shirt. Please include shirt size for each child attending in the notes section of checkout.

Location will vary based on attendance (the Art Studio on Pleasant, the Park, and Carnegie Picture Lab) and will be announced prior to camp commencing.

An optional extended day is available Tuesday - Thursday from end of class to 5:30 pm and is payable on a day-to-day basis @ $8 per hour for the first child and $2 per hour for second sibling. This extended care time will be less-structured allowing children an "open studio" time to do activities and lots of free play. Extended day Campers must bring their own lunch and snacks.
